One tool, two file types

Whatever the form wants, make it fit.

How to make an image fit

Three steps. Nothing to learn.

  1. Choose your image

A JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB. It opens in your browser — nothing is sent to us.

  2. Tell us the limit

Pick the maximum size your form shows, like 2 MB or 500 KB. We explain what we’ll change before we start.

  3. Check and download

See the real size and dimensions of the copy, compare it with the original, then download.

Honest by design

We tell you what we changed — and when we can’t.

Stays on your device

Images are processed in your browser tab and aren’t uploaded. That matters for passports, payslips and IDs.

Real bytes, not a guess

We measure the finished file before calling it a fit, and aim a little under your limit.

Straight answers

If an image can’t reach your limit without becoming unusable, we say so and show your options.

Your original is untouched

We make a copy. The file on your device stays exactly as it was.

Free, no strings

No account, no watermark, no waiting timer.

Keeps what matters

Same format and proportions, and PNG transparency stays transparent.

Good to know: many forms also check the file type and pixel size, not just the file size. We show both on the result so you can check them against the form.

Image questions

Before you download.

Straight answers about what happens to your image.

Will my image always reach the limit I pick?

Usually. When it can’t — for example a large PNG kept as PNG, or a very small limit for a big photo — we show the closest size we reached and what would get you the rest of the way.

Will it look worse?

Lowering quality and shrinking pixels both lose some detail. For JPG and WebP we first lower the quality, but only to a moderate level. If it still doesn’t fit, we make it smaller in pixels, never below 640 px on the longest side, and only then lower the quality further. PNG has no quality setting, so only its pixel size can change. Compare the copy with your original before you upload it.

Does a PNG keep its transparent background?

Yes, if you keep PNG or convert to WebP. JPG can’t store transparency, so converting to JPG turns transparent areas white — we only do that when you choose it.

Why was my iPhone photo (HEIC) not accepted?

This browser can’t open HEIC photos, so we can’t shrink them here. Get a JPG of it first: on a Mac, open it in Photos or Preview and choose File › Export › JPEG. For new photos, on your iPhone go to Settings › Camera › Formats and choose Most Compatible.

What happens to location and camera details?

Every copy we make leaves out the location, camera model and date saved in the photo. If your image already fits, we keep the picture exactly as it is and only remove those details. The picture’s rotation is kept.

The file fits, so why did the form still reject it?

Many forms also check the file type or the pixel size, not just the file size. We show both on the result so you can check them against the form’s rules.

It’s free — how is that paid for?

The tool is free and there are no ads or fees today. If ads are added later, they’ll only appear on guides and information pages, never on the tool itself, and your files never leave your device.

Too big to upload? Make it fit.

Choose the file, set the limit, download the copy. Free, and nothing is uploaded.
