Your files. Clear privacy information.

How Make My File Fit handles your files, your visit to this website, and any email you send us.

Image mode: what happens to your image

The application reads and processes the image you choose in your browser. It doesn’t upload the image, its file name, its contents or its preview to a server. Your original file isn’t overwritten.

Your image and the result are held temporarily in your browser’s memory. The application doesn’t store them in local storage, IndexedDB, service-worker caches or an online library.

Choosing a different image, starting again, going back with the browser’s Back button, or leaving or closing the page cancels any work in progress and releases the application’s references to the files. This isn’t a promise of secure erasure from browser or device memory.

Saving and sharing your result

The result leaves your browser only when you choose to save or share it:

  • Download saves the file using your browser’s usual download settings.
  • On some phones, Save to Photos opens your device’s share options. The file goes only to the app or place you pick. Whether it ends up in your photo library depends on that app and on completing its steps; opening the share options doesn’t save the file by itself.

We don’t see where you save or send the file. Once it’s there, that app’s or service’s own terms and privacy practices apply.

Image metadata

When we make a new copy: your browser draws the picture’s pixels into a new file.

  • Location, camera details, dates and other embedded information from your original aren’t carried over.
  • The browser may add basic technical data of its own, such as a colour profile.
  • Extra content some phones store with a photo isn’t included. That includes Motion Photo video, HDR brightness information and additional preview images.

When your image already fits, or is over the limit only because of its metadata:

  • The picture data is kept exactly as it is.
  • Embedded information is removed: EXIF (including GPS location, camera model and dates), XMP, IPTC, text comments, and, for JPEG, anything stored after the main picture (such as Motion Photo video, HDR brightness information and extra previews).
  • The colour profile and the photo’s rotation are kept.

Either way, an HDR photo may look less bright on an HDR screen.

The result screen’s “What we did” line says what was removed from your file.

We can’t guarantee that every result is free of all metadata. Check the result before sharing sensitive images.

PDF mode

Supported PDFs are read and optimised in a browser worker, with no document upload and no application storage. A new PDF is created without rasterising pages or changing embedded image quality. Metadata may remain, including in PDFs returned unchanged. Clearing the file or leaving the page cancels the job and releases the result; this isn’t secure memory erasure. Password-protected, signed, fillable and interactive documents are rejected.

Video

Video is in development. The public website has no video tool and processes no video. Test pages used during development are removed before the website is built and published.

Hosting: what happens when you visit

Who hosts the site: this website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc.

Where requests go: when you open a page, your browser requests it from Cloudflare’s global network, usually from a data centre near you. That may be outside Australia.

What Cloudflare processes: technical information about each request, such as your IP address, browser details, the page requested and the time, to deliver the website and protect it from abuse.

Network error reports: Cloudflare also asks your browser to report network errors when a page fails to load. Those reports go to Cloudflare.

Your files aren’t part of any of these requests.

Where Cloudflare stores information: Cloudflare says it primarily stores information in the United States and the European Economic Area, and may access it from around the world. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

What we can see: request logging (Workers Observability) is turned off for this website, and it doesn’t use Cloudflare Web Analytics. In Cloudflare’s dashboard we can see overall statistics only, such as the number of requests and how many ended in an error. We can’t see individual visitors’ requests.

Cookies

Make My File Fit doesn’t set cookies, and uses no advertising or analytics cookies.

On 28 September 2026 we checked every page and file this website serves, including the “page not found” page and the file that processes images. None of them set a cookie, from us or our hosting provider. A browser visit also stored no cookies.

That check covers this website as it’s hosted today. Hosting providers can set security or access cookies, for example to filter automated traffic, if such features are switched on. If our hosting set-up changes, we’ll check again and update this section.

No tracking or advertising

This website runs no third-party analytics, advertising scripts, affiliate tracking or session recording. Advertising or analytics would need a revised notice, a tested separation from file handling, and appropriate consent controls before being switched on. A consent banner alone wouldn’t protect file contents.

If you email us

What we receive: your email address, your message and anything you attach.

What we use it for: only to reply and to fix problems you report.

Where it’s stored: our email is provided by Titan (Titan Solution Ltd), which stores messages on our behalf and may process them outside Australia. See Titan’s privacy policy: https://support.titan.email/hc/en-us/articles/360038535773-Titan-Privacy-Policy

How long we keep it: we delete support emails within 12 months after the conversation ends.

Please don’t attach your file or include confidential details.
